Favourite January Ritual - Vision Setting

Favourite January Ritual - Vision Setting

Early in Jan, I sat with my friends around a table, each of us with a blank A3 sheet of paper — our annual January ritual. And just like that, five hours flew by.

I've never really believed in New Year's resolutions. Deciding on one thing you'll do all year long just isn't how my brain works. But something I have come to love over the last few years is creating a vision board. Instead of rigid goals like “I'll eat healthy every day” or “I'll go to the gym,” a vision board is about painting a picture of how you want the year to look and feel. It's a mix of how I want to feel, what I want to achieve, and how I might get there.

A blank A3 sheet, and a table full of markers, pencil colours, stickers, Fevistik, and stationery collected over the years. We picked the prompts one by one, talked them through, and added our answers to the page — however we wanted. Anything that inspired us made it onto the board.

After a few more exercises, we moved on to our favourite part: Bingo, which is a 5x5 grid of our goals across different categories…and the best part? Even if you cross off just 5 out of the 25 boxes on your grid, you win 2026. I love this because it takes the pressure off, while still keeping things intentional and fun.

So today, I thought I could share some of our prompts and details of the BINGO exercise with you all.  If you do nothing else, I really urge you to try the Bingo.

I've turned our annual ritual into a simple worksheet you can download here and try yourself — whether alone or with friends.
I've realised how powerful it is to do this exercise with people who genuinely want you to win. You can talk openly about your lows, and somehow the conversation still shifts toward growth — personal and professional. What next? How can I do better? What can I do differently? Having people who've witnessed your journey helps you see things differently.

I hope you gather 2–3 people who cheer you on, cozy up in your living room (or on a Zoom call), and spend a few hours lifting each other up. Or start alone — grab your diary, make some tea or coffee, light a candle, and let yourself dream.
